Emerging Technologies and the Future of Accounting Education Practices in Nigeria-Blessing O. Agbo

Abstract: This article focuses on emerging technologies and the future of accounting education practices in Nigeria. It examines the effect of artificial intelligence on future accounting education practices and determines the effect of data analytics on future accounting education practices in Nigeria. The study used the descriptive survey design approach. A total population of 2342 students and lecturers combined was used. An adequate sample size of three hundred and thirty (330) was determined and used. The data were analyzed and presented in frequency and percentage tables. Regression statistical tools were used to test the hypotheses using SPSS Version 26. The study's findings revealed that Artificial intelligence has a significant effect on the future of accounting education practices in Nigeria and that data analytics has a substantial effect on the future of accounting education practices in Nigeria. it was concluded that embracing these advancements will improve educational outcomes and contribute to Nigeria's accounting sector's overall growth and competitiveness. It was recommended, among other things, that Nigerian accounting education programs incorporate artificial intelligence and data analytics into their curricula and equip students with essential skills for analyzing data and improving financial decision-making.
