Editor’s Note

I am pleased to announce the release of volume 2, number 1 of the Journal of African Communityand Development (JACAD). As always, JACAD publishes original research that offers a richunderstanding of the past and emerging issues confronting the African continent and its people.

The articles published in this issue address issues surrounding language, faith, governance, literature and education in Africa. By analyzing how these critical issues shape socialrelations and transformations in Africa, these articles recast our understanding of some of thefundamental issues we must understand to promote social and economic development in modernAfrica. The six articles in these issues engage our thinking about how dynamic forces on thecontinent have continued to intersect with global forces to reshape Africa's contemporarylandscape. The forces discussed include the place of language as a vital marker of culturalidentity, cohesion, continuity, inclusivity, and intercultural communication tourism; the force ofseeing interdependency and diversity whether culturally or through corporate governance asresources for national progress rather than a source of conflict; the force on how youth-orientedspiritual perceptions are played out and contested through the Nigerian gospel Afrobeats songs;and how paying attention to oneness that is demonstrated through similarities conversant acrossAfrican folktales, myth, African songs, and their griots can lead to Unification within the Universe. These manuscripts underwent the journal’s standard peer review procedures and weresubsequently revised in accordance with feedback from both editors and reviewers. This publication was made possible by the dedication of JACAD's editorial board, theeditorial assistant, authors, external reviewers, and the Patience and Anyanwu Foundation. Wethank you and look forward to many more successful years of JACAD.
